Carl-von-Bach-Gymnasium
In the years 1901 to 1903 was the building of today's Carl-von-Bach Gymnasium as facultary seminar built. The architect was Conrad Canzler (1853 - 1928), which also includes the overhead of the building held. The floor plan has the shape of a horseshoe.
The walls are made of light yellow stones and decorated with sandstone ornaments. In the lower part of the gable is the monogram AR (Augustus Rex) to recognize. It is reminiscent of King Friedrich August of Saxony). Under the windows of the hall is the word "Light - love - life, surrounded by an owl, a symbol of wisdom and study.
The state coat of arms of Saxony is in relief on the main portal add. This showed the importance of the state building.
In 1922, the faculty seminar, following a decision of the Saxon Parliament, in a German secondary school converted. In the 2nd World War the school was partly used as a hospital and the teaching has been restricted.
Since 1992, the school is a secondary school and since 1997 the school bears the name of the honorable citizen of the town of Stollberg "Carl von Bach".
